		NEWS 12-10-07 Launching of the environment protection vessel "Sprut". On October 12, 2007 at the building way of Shipyard “Yantar” there has been conducted the ceremony of launching of the environment protection vessel of project 6457 C “Sprut”. Representatives of Frontier Service of Federal Security Service of RF, Concern of Medium and Small Shipbuilding ( Moscow) and of the government bodies of Kaliningrad have taken part in this ceremony. Special purpose environment protection patrol vessel “Sprut”, being built in series for Frontier Service of Federal Security Service of RF, has been constructed on the ground of German design, finished by FSUE Central Design Bureau “Almaz” according to special requirements of Frontier Service of the Russian Federation and requirements of Russian Ship Register. “Sprut” is a modern vessel of the new generation. At this vessel there was realized an idea of essential decrease of crew numbers due to application of the most advanced technologies and computer-aided facilities. The vessel is equipped with diesel-electrical propulsion system and one propeller. It considerably increases endurance and cruising range of ship. The vessel has automatic engine control from Main Control Post. Displacement of the vessel is about 900 tons, Length – 65 m Breadth – 10,6 m Draft – 3,48 m Cruising range – up to 12 000 miles.
