Shifting of the second Frigate to the building berth.



A Hull of the second Frigate of series, being built at Shipyard Yantar for Indian Navy, is shifted onto the second berth position. The Hull is more than half erected, it’s midship part is completed, and now it’s turn of the 2-nd and 5-th blocks. The Hull is scheduled to complete next March.
Shifting of the Hull to outside building berth gives an opportunity to form simultaneously the 3-rd and the 2-nd blocks of the third ship, occupying covered building berth now.
As for the Head ship of this series, staying on the first berth position, her Hull is formed completely and at the present time spaces are being accepted for structurality for the following installation of hull castings.
Launching of Indian Frigates will take place in 2011-2012. Total cost of this order amounts approximately to one and a half billion USD.

For reference:
Indian Frigates, being built at shipyard “Yantar” , belong to “Krivak-4” type according to NATO classification. Main function of these near-zone ships – prolonged patrolling for submarines search and destruction and protection of ships during sea passage. Each of Frigates of 125 m length, 4 thousand displacement tons can speed up to 30 knots.
